E118 The Little Hero of Harlem
Have you ever done something very brave? What did that feel like? Or maybe you know someone who did something very brave – what was it? Do you know what we call someone who does a very brave deed to save others from danger?
Hello everyone. I’m Kathleen Pelley. Welcome to Journey with Story. Yes, we call a brave person a hero or a heroine…..Today’s story is an ENCORE episode about an old legend from a country called Holland – and it is about a little boy who does a brave deed to save the people in his town.
Before we begin I want to give a big thank you to Maelee Innes age 8 who sent me her fabulous drawing inspired by one of my favorite episodes of JWS -The Sugar Mouse Cake. You can admire it on our website – www.journeywithstory.com – click on blogposts at the top, and go to my December blog post and you will see Maelee’s lovelry drawing there. And a big thanks to Maelee’s grandma who told me, her grandkids love to listen to this podcast in the car on the way to and from school and they have listened to every single episode from start to finish – wow – that’s what I LOVE to hear. Thanks to Maelee and her Grandma – this encore episode is dedicated to both of you – enjoy
Now, let’s take an ENCORE journey with The Little Hero of Haarlem (sometimes called the Little Dutch Boy)
So – maybe this is a good story to begin a new year as it reminds us that we all need heroes and heroines in our world – and you do not need to be a grown up to be a hero or to be brave – every one of us can be brave every day and try to make the world a little better, a little brighter for someone else.
Happy New Year to all of our wonderful listeners – here’s hoping you find lots of ways to be brave and lighten our world.
Cheerio then – join me next time for Journey with Story.
